Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has sparked conversation online after sharing a strong piece of spiritual advice on the nature of prayers and divine judgment.
Taking to her Instagram, Mary cautioned the public to be wary of who they intercede for in prayer. According to her, not every challenge someone faces is an attack from the enemy—some may be facing divine punishment for hidden sins or past actions.
“Be careful who you pray for. Sometimes you’re trying to bless someone that God is trying to punish,” she wrote.
Mary pointed out how some people might be fasting and interceding endlessly for others, yet seeing no results. She suggested that such spiritual silence could be heaven’s way of enforcing divine consequences.
“Before you lose sleep, pause. There might be a reason heaven is silent. A hidden sin. A consequence. Something you don’t know and may never know,” she added.
Encouraging wisdom and discernment in spiritual matters, the actress emphasized that not every struggle is one meant to be fought by outsiders. In her words:
“Be wise. Be discerning. Not every struggle is a battle you’re meant to fight. Not every delay is demonic. Sometimes, it’s divine judgment.”
Mary Remmy Njoku’s post has since gone viral, prompting a wave of mixed reactions online. While some agree with her perspective, others believe compassion and intercessory prayers should not be withheld, regardless of circumstances.
