A Nigerian woman has taken to social media to recount a harrowing experience involving operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), who allegedly stormed her home in the early hours of the morning, broke down her door, and assaulted her husband.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the woman detailed how the EFCC officials reportedly scaled the fence of their compound around 4 a.m. while she and her husband were asleep.
According to her, the operatives forcefully hit their door until it gave way—damaging what she described as an “expensive” structure. Upon gaining entry, she claimed the officers beat her husband and demanded access to his phone, which they then searched thoroughly.
She said nothing incriminating was found on the device, and the operatives eventually left, only offering a simple “sorry” before their exit.
The woman further alleged that the raid was not limited to her household, noting that several other homes in the area were similarly targeted that night.
“This morning, we were sleeping in our room. EFCC came around 4 a.m. and started hitting our door. They destroyed it,” she said in the video.
“They beat up my husband, asked for his phone, searched it, searched our house, and at the end of the day, all they said was sorry. They climbed into our house from the fence.”
The viral video has triggered widespread outrage online, with many Nigerians calling for an investigation and accountability from the anti-graft agency.
