Machine Gun Kelly has opened up about who came up with the name of his baby daughter with Megan Fox.
The former couple welcomed their first child together in March but waited nearly three months before confirming her name—Saga Blade Fox-Baker. Now, MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, has disclosed who suggested the distinctive name.
“Well, I lost the first one and won the second one,” the musician told TODAY in a recent episode of the 8 Before 8 video series.
“When you are 18 years old and you go to her mother and you go, ‘What if we named our kid “Kid?”‘ I get why she’s like, ‘Hey man, shut up.'”
Machine Gun Kelly was referencing how he wasn’t able to choose the name for his first daughter, 15-year-old Casie, whom he shares with ex-partner Emma Cannon. However, he did get his way with the naming of his second child.
Elsewhere in the interview, the 35-year-old revealed he had seriously considered naming his firstborn Kid.
“That was one of the names,” he recalled. “I was like, ‘If her name was Kid, that would be sick.'”
In mid-June, Machine Gun Kelly posted a video on Instagram of himself playing the ukulele for his daughter, unveiling her name while keeping her face hidden from view.
“Saga Blade Fox-Baker thank you for the ultimate gift @meganfox,” he wrote in the caption.
Later that month, MGK explained how they came up with the name Saga.
“She is an epic story,” he told TODAY. “That’s what saga means.
