Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has revealed she no longer attends church, claiming that repeated unwanted advances from pastors in every congregation she joined forced her to walk away from organised worship.
Speaking in an interview with The PUNCH, the screen star said she was once deeply active in church activities but gradually realised that attendance alone did not guarantee God’s favour.
Martins explained that after the uncomfortable encounters, she decided to build a personal relationship with God on her own terms — committing to remain faithful and focus on actions that please Him.
“I am not an atheist. I’m a Christian… but it’s what you do behind closed doors that really matters,” she stressed, adding that she now practises her faith through charity and private devotion.
According to her, the change has brought her peace and tangible results: “Since then, every time I go down on my knees, He answers.”
