Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini Seized by EOCO Following FBI Request Linked to Financial Crimes

Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus belonging to dancehall star Shatta Wale. The seizure followed a request from the FBI and the United States Department of Justice.

The high-end vehicle was discovered at the singer’s residence in Trassaco Valley, Accra, and was reportedly tied to criminal proceeds associated with Nana Kwabena Amuah, a man currently serving a prison sentence in the United States for financial offences.

According to EOCO’s acting director, Raymond Archer, the seizure was carried out in June by the agency’s Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit after a lawful search.

Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah, initially appealed to EOCO officials not to publicize the operation, citing the vehicle’s significance to his public image. He eventually agreed to surrender the car voluntarily. EOCO confirmed that the process was conducted peacefully and without incident.

The agency stated that the Lamborghini is now in its possession and preparations are underway to return it to the United States as part of a $4.7 million restitution linked to Amuah’s conviction.

Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of Ghana’s National Signal Bureau have both been identified as persons of interest and may be required to support ongoing investigations.

EOCO noted that a final report could be forwarded to both the FBI and the US Justice Department.

In a Facebook post, Shatta Wale criticized EOCO’s approach during the operation, particularly the use of armed officers, which he described as humiliating.
