Tory Lanez Sanctioned in Megan Thee Stallion’s Defamation Lawsuit

The legal fallout from the 2020 shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez continues, with a fresh development now surfacing in Megan’s defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz.

According to AllHipHop, a federal judge in Florida has ordered Tory Lanez to pay Megan Thee Stallion’s legal fees following a problematic deposition he participated in on April 9. During the session—linked to the ongoing defamation case against Gramz—Lanez reportedly insulted Megan’s legal counsel, interrupted questions, and pretended not to understand basic facts and definitions.

These actions prompted the court to issue sanctions, with the Canadian rapper now required to cover costs for that initial deposition. Megan’s legal team also demanded that Tory Lanez explain why he shouldn’t be held in contempt for his conduct. However, his team failed to respond by the April 30 deadline, resulting in the court’s ruling.

Moving forward, a magistrate judge will be present at Lanez’s next deposition to maintain decorum. Additionally, Megan’s attorneys are pushing for Lanez to bear the cost of a special master to oversee any future testimony—though the final decision on that request remains pending.

The defamation lawsuit at the center of all this alleges that YouTuber Milagro Gramz spread falsehoods about Megan’s mental health, substance use, and more—much of which tied back to the Tory Lanez shooting case. Megan also claims that Lanez and his father supported Gramz’s actions.
