Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Robert Lewandowski have both been sanctioned by UEFA for breaching Anti-Doping Regulations during their recent Champions League clash against Inter Milan.
According to Marca, the football governing body found the pair guilty of failing to “report immediately to the Doping Control Station” after the final whistle — a mandatory step for players selected for testing. While no banned substances were involved, UEFA rules require instant compliance to preserve the integrity of the process.
Both players have been fined €5,000 each, with UEFA stating they ignored instructions from the Anti-Doping Control Officer (Art. 21.8) and did not proceed straight to the checkpoint (Art. 21.10(a)).
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick also landed in trouble, receiving a €20,000 fine and a one-match suspension in UEFA competitions for violating the “general principles of conduct” and the “basic rules of decent conduct” under Articles 11(1) and 11(2)(b).
The club itself will pay €5,250 for objects thrown by fans and €2,500 for fireworks lit during the game. All penalties take immediate effect and will impact Barça’s next European fixture.
