The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has revealed plans to launch a nationwide investigation into property ownership in Nigeria.
According to Olukoyede, a special team has already been set up and will begin visiting estates across the country to identify the real owners. He disclosed that findings so far indicate that many of these estates were funded by corrupt civil servants using stolen public funds.
“We want to know who owns what. Most of these estates were built with money stolen by civil servants,” Olukoyede stated.
The EFCC boss stressed that the operation is part of efforts to curb corruption and recover looted funds, adding that no one will be spared in the coming clampdown.
