Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre (DIGC), Dr. Paul Enenche, has sounded a stern warning to Nigerians over the growing trend of patronizing online loan apps.
Speaking during Sunday’s service in Abuja, the fiery preacher described loan platforms as “agents of the devil in covenant with the spirit of debt.”
Loan Apps Linked to Depression and Suicide
Pastor Enenche lamented the increasing cases of depression and suicide tied to the operations of these platforms, noting how many unsuspecting people are lured by the promise of quick financial relief.
“Many people have been deceived by the promise of quick financial relief,” he said.
“But once they fall into the trap, they are subjected to harassment, intimidation, and embarrassment that sometimes push them into depression or even suicide.”
Harassment and Public Shaming
The cleric revealed that victims of these loans are often bombarded with threats, automated calls, and defamatory messages.
“Some of these platforms even go as far as publishing fake obituaries online just to disgrace debtors,” he added.
A Call to Christians
Dr. Enenche urged Christians to stay away from such platforms, stressing that they are nothing but demonic traps.
“These things are demonic covenants with debt, and no child of God should have anything to do with them,” he warned.
His remarks come amid mounting public outrage against loan apps in Nigeria, many of which have faced criticism for privacy breaches and extreme recovery tactics.
