Bad Bunny has confirmed he intentionally left the United States off his sold-out world tour, citing fears that ICE could target his shows.
In a new interview with i-D magazine, the Puerto Rican star explained that his decision wasn’t out of resentment but concern for his fans.
“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate. I’ve performed there many times. All of them have been magnificent,” he said.
The DTMF singer revealed that worries about immigration authorities weighed heavily on him and his team.
“There was the issue of, like, f**king ICE could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
Bad Bunny has previously been vocal against ICE. Back in June, he shared footage of what appeared to be an ICE raid in Puerto Rico with a blunt caption: “ice.” His post came amid a wave of immigration crackdowns that NPR reports have led to over 500 arrests this year.
