Popular South African influencer Cindy Makhathini has reassured her fans after being involved in a frightening car accident over the weekend.
The star took to Instagram on Sunday to confirm the incident, which quickly sparked concern across social media. Screenshots of the accident scene also circulated online after celebrity blog Maphepha Ndaba shared them on its page.
Cindy explained that her car veered into a Sasol garage, causing damage to the property. Fortunately, no one was injured in the crash.
“I just crashed my car. Not just crashed but crashed into a Sasol garage. Lucky enough no one was hurt, also my car was just scratched, but the damage I did to the garage is too much,” she wrote.
The influencer stressed that she was not under the influence, clarifying that police conducted a breathalyzer test which came out clean.
“FYI, I WAS NOT DRUNK. We were driving with a baby in the car and it was a long distance!!! The police did a breathalyzer test, and there was no alcohol in my blood. It was just an honest mistake,” she added.
Makhathini also praised the garage owner for handling the matter with kindness and assured followers that she is cooperating fully with both the police and those affected.
While still shaken, she expressed gratitude for escaping unharmed and thanked fans who reached out with messages of support.
The accident comes just days after Cindy was embroiled in a heated online feud with author Jackie Phamotse, who accused her of sliding into her husband’s DMs. Cindy denied the claims in a video posted on September 25, insisting she has no knowledge of Phamotse or her spouse.
