Davido becomes voting member of Grammys Recording Academy

Nigerian superstar Davido has officially become a voting member of the Recording Academy, the body behind the prestigious Grammy Awards.

As part of his new role, the Afrobeats icon will now contribute to the decision-making process that shapes Grammy nominations and winners.

In a video message, Davido described the milestone as a major breakthrough in his career:

“I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season. This is a gamechanger. I’m honoured to join the Recording Academy and look forward to voting.”

Davido’s Grammy journey has been eventful. He bagged his first three nominations at the 2024 awards but missed out on all categories. His fourth nod came in 2025 for Sensational, a collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, in the Best African Music Performance category — though the award ultimately went to Tems for Love Me Jeje.

With this new membership, fans are hopeful that Davido’s influence will not only boost his own career but also spotlight Afrobeats and African music on the global stage.
