“Hit me by mistake, saddist” – Davido Clears the Air on Viral ‘Slap’ Video from Warri Visit

Afrobeats superstar Davido has debunked viral claims that a fan slapped him on the head during his recent visit to Warri, Delta State.

On Monday, a video circulated online showing the Unavailable crooner being ushered into a building by his security team while fans sang and cheered around him. The clip sparked a frenzy on social media, with many alleging that the singer was assaulted by an overzealous fan.

An X user who shared the video captioned it: “Warri people no get joy oo. See dem sl@p Davido for head.”

Responding directly to the speculation, Davido clarified:
Mumu that was my security .. hit me by mistake .. saddist, he wrote.

The clarification puts to rest the debate among fans who had expressed outrage at what they initially believed was an attack.

Davido, 31, remains one of Africa’s biggest music exports. The father of six recently dropped his fifth studio album, 5ive, on April 18, 2025, following the massive success of his 2023 album, Timeless.
