Popular Nigerian music star, D’banj, has joined the long list of celebrities and fans celebrating legendary singer 2Baba as he clocks 50.
Taking to Instagram, the “Oliver Twist” crooner shared a photo of himself with 2Baba, showering him with praises and describing him as more than just a colleague.
He wrote:
“Happy Birthday to my Brother, Ancestor and Legend @official2baba. A Bad Sharp Guy! More life, more blessings, and more timeless music. Love you, King! OooSssHhEeee.”
2Baba, born Innocent Ujah Idibia, is regarded as one of Africa’s greatest music icons, with a career spanning over two decades.
He first rose to prominence as a member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz before launching a hugely successful solo career, with hits like African Queen, True Love, and Only Me. His influence has shaped modern Afrobeats, earning him respect as a true pioneer of the genre.
D’banj, on the other hand, is also a legend in his own right. Known as the “Koko Master,” he became one of Nigeria’s biggest global exports in the 2000s with chart-toppers such as Tongolo, Suddenly, and Oliver Twist, which penetrated international markets.
Both artists share a long history of friendship, mutual respect, and significant contributions to putting Nigerian music on the global stage.
As 2Baba hits the golden age of 50, tributes from colleagues like D’banj highlight just how deeply respected he is within the music industry and beyond.
