DSS Gives Sowore One-Week Ultimatum to Delete Post Against Tinubu

Sowore Rejects 2027 Opposition Coalition, Labels Members as "Looters"

The Department of State Services, DSS, has issued a one-week ultimatum to human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, demanding that he delete what it described as a “false, malicious, and inciting” social media post about President Bola Tinubu.

In a letter dated September 7, the DSS alleged that Sowore made criminal and derogatory remarks against the President in an X post on August 26.

The security agency warned that if the post is not taken down, it would be compelled to explore all lawful means to safeguard national security and maintain public order.

DAILY POST recalls that Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and publisher of Sahara Reporters, had in the post described President Tinubu as a criminal. He also accused the president of lying to Nigerians after Tinubu reportedly claimed that corruption no longer existed under his administration.

Responding through its Director of Legal Services, Uwem Davies, the DSS stressed that the remarks have provoked anger among citizens and could “incite public disturbance, disunity, and even insurrection.”
