Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has dismissed comparisons between his situation at Old Trafford and Pep Guardiola’s at Manchester City, branding them a “joke.”
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Manchester Derby, Amorim stressed that he faces far greater pressure than the Spaniard, despite City sitting in 13th place after back-to-back Premier League defeats, while United are currently ninth.
Amorim explained:
“No, you cannot compare. The guy is winning all the time. He can relax if he’s not winning anymore.
I have to prove myself every day here and I feel that. So I’m really comfortable with that and I think that every day that I come here, that I have to do better.
To compare me with the situation of Guardiola is just a joke. I think we have bigger problems.”
Guardiola, now in his ninth year at the Etihad, has already delivered multiple Premier League titles and a historic Champions League win, while Amorim is still working to prove himself in charge of United.
