Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has set yet another record in European football, becoming the fastest player in history to reach 50 goals in the UEFA Champions League.
The Norwegian hit the milestone on Thursday night after scoring the opener in City’s clash with Napoli at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland needed just 49 appearances to achieve the feat, smashing the previous record of 62 games held by Dutch legend Ruud van Nistelrooy.
At 26 years and 22 days old, he also becomes the second-youngest player to net 50 goals in the competition, behind Kylian Mbappé, who reached the mark at 25 years and 356 days.
The goal moves Haaland level with Arsenal and France icon Thierry Henry on the Champions League’s all-time scorers chart, tied in ninth place.
Since joining Manchester City in 2022, Haaland has established himself as one of football’s most lethal forwards, and this milestone further cements his status as a modern great.
