Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has rejoined first-team training after holding a crucial meeting with coach Ivan Juric on Thursday morning.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport and other Italian outlets, the Nigerian international trained with the squad on September 18, his first session since being frozen out in August.
Lookman had been sidelined after attempting to push through a summer transfer to Serie A rivals Inter Milan. However, following a private meeting with Juric, the 26-year-old also addressed his teammates, admitting he endured a “tough summer” but stressing his renewed commitment to Atalanta’s season.
The Super Eagles star is yet to feature in a competitive game for La Dea this campaign, but his return raises hopes of a recall for their upcoming Serie A clash against Torino.
Atalanta will be eager for a response after their 4–0 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night, and Lookman’s comeback could provide a timely boost.
The forward was one of Atalanta’s standout performers last season, and his reintegration into the squad is seen as a positive step as Juric looks to get the team back on track both in domestic and European competition.
