Barcelona manager Hansi Flick reportedly locked his players inside the dressing room following their 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano last weekend.
The result ended the LaLiga champions’ perfect start to the season, after they had beaten Mallorca 3-0 in their opening fixture and secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Levante.
Flick’s Frustration Boils Over
Despite the unbeaten run, Flick has been left dissatisfied with the team’s overall performance. According to The Athletic, the German tactician was furious after the Vallecano game and decided to confront his squad behind closed doors.
He reportedly gave his players the same stern message he later shared during his post-match press conference — but in sharper and more forceful terms.
“No Egos, Because Egos Kill Success”
Speaking after the draw, Flick stressed the importance of unity in the Barcelona dressing room:
“The most important thing is that, when the transfer window is closed, everyone who stays is 100 per cent committed to this club.
No egos, because egos kill success. Last season, we played as one unit. We have to be like this again now.”
What’s Next for Barcelona?
Barcelona will now be under pressure to respond positively to Flick’s tough stance as they continue their LaLiga title defence. The manager’s no-nonsense approach signals that he will accept nothing less than total commitment and teamwork from his squad.
