Former President Goodluck Jonathan has opened up about his experience of betrayal while seeking re-election in 2015.
He made the remarks in Benin, Edo State, during the 70th birthday celebration of Chief Mike Aiyegbeni Oghiadomhe, a long-time ally and close associate. Jonathan described Oghiadomhe as one of the few loyal friends who consistently stood by him.
“Politics in the Nigerian standard is about betrayals,” said the former President of Nigeria.
“I have witnessed a lot of betrayal during the 2015 election. You will find it difficult to see somebody who says the same thing in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening.”
Oghiadomhe, who was Jonathan’s Chief of Staff between 2010 and 2014, has remained a key figure in his political journey.
Meanwhile, speculation has been growing about his possible return to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), though he has not confirmed or denied such reports.
