“I’d Have Quit Tinubu’s Cabinet if Appointed Minister” – El-Rufai

El-Rufai

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that he would have resigned if he had been appointed a minister in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV on Sunday, El-Rufai explained that being a minister was never his ambition. He disclosed that although President Tinubu once appealed to him to join the cabinet, “he later changed his mind.”

“I would have probably resigned if I was a minister in Tinubu’s government. I have no desire to be a minister. I don’t care what people are saying now. I have been a minister when I was much younger,” El-Rufai said.

The former Kaduna governor was nominated as Minister of Power but reportedly failed to pass security screening. He insisted that Nigeria’s power sector would have been significantly transformed if he had been allowed to take up the role.
