BREAKING: Federal High Court Grants Bail to Former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai Over ICPC Corruption Charges

CAN Warns Tinubu of El-Rufai’s Manipulative Politics, says beware

Former Kaduna State governor and Action Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Nasir El-Rufai, has been granted bail by a Federal High Court after being detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

El-Rufai had been held in ICPC custody over allegations of corrupt practices linked to his tenure as Kaduna State governor. The bail grant marks a significant development in what has become one of Nigeria’s most high-profile political corruption cases.

The news was confirmed on Tuesday by political commentator Imran Wakili via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has been granted bail by the Federal High Court,” Wakili wrote.

El-Rufai, who also served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under President Olusegun Obasanjo, is currently standing trial over the corruption allegations. The specific bail conditions, including the amount and any travel restrictions, have not yet been disclosed at the time of this report.

The ICPC had taken El-Rufai into custody as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct during his time governing Kaduna State. His detention had attracted significant public attention, with supporters and critics divided over the political motivations behind the case.
