Kalu Aja Urges Tinubu to Spend Holidays in Nigeria, Not Abroad

Kalu Aja Slams Nigeria's Missed Oil Opportunity Amid US-Russia-India Tensions

Financial advisor and educator Kalu Aja has urged President Bola Tinubu to lead by example by spending his holidays in Nigeria instead of traveling overseas.

Taking to his X handle, Aja questioned: “Why can’t the President set an example and holiday in Nigeria?”

His comment follows the Presidency’s announcement that Tinubu had departed Abuja to begin a 10-day working vacation in Europe as part of his 2025 annual leave.

According to a statement signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will divide his holiday between France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria.

The trip has sparked criticism from Nigerians, with many accusing the President of promoting what they describe as an “excessive foreign travel culture.”

Some have gone as far as alleging that Tinubu has spent almost a quarter of his presidency abroad, raising concerns about the image it projects and the missed opportunity to showcase local tourism.
