Manchester United earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a dramatic Premier League showdown at Old Trafford, a match that saw both Robert Sanchez and Casemiro sent off.
The intensity began almost immediately as Chelsea’s goalkeeper Sanchez was dismissed just five minutes in for a reckless challenge on Bryan Mbeumo, leaving the visitors at a huge disadvantage.
United made their advantage count with Bruno Fernandes opening the scoring, before Casemiro doubled the lead with a towering header that put Ruben Amorim’s men firmly in control.
But the match took another twist in the second half when Casemiro, already on a booking, picked up a second yellow card for a rash foul on Andrey Santos, reducing both teams to ten men.
Chelsea capitalised on the shift in momentum, with Trevoh Chalobah pulling one back late on, sparking hopes of a comeback.
Despite mounting late pressure from Enzo Maresca’s side, United held firm to seal all three points in a tense, hard-fought victory that keeps their campaign alive.
