Former Queens Park Rangers shot-stopper Paddy Kenny has thrown down the gauntlet to Wayne Rooney, daring the Manchester United legend to settle their long-running feud inside the boxing ring.
The tension dates back to the dramatic 2012 Premier League finale, when Sergio Aguero’s last-minute strike against QPR handed Manchester City their first-ever league title — snatching it away from Rooney’s Manchester United on goal difference.
Rooney has repeatedly suggested over the years that Kenny, who was in goal that day, should have “done better” and even hinted that the 47-year-old keeper deliberately let Aguero score.
Unimpressed by Rooney’s constant jabs, Kenny told Boxing Social that he’s ready to put the matter to rest once and for all:
“He keeps hammering me about that Aguero goal, so I think me and him need to sort it out in the ring.
13 years on, he is still saying I let the goals in! It might have looked like I let them in, but I didn’t!”
