Former Boxing Champion Ricky Hatton Found Dead at 46

Former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton has been found dead at his home in Manchester at the age of 46.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that officers responded to a call on Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside, at about 6:45 a.m. on Sunday, where Hatton’s body was discovered. Authorities noted that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Hatton, nicknamed “The Hitman,” enjoyed a glittering 15-year career, winning 45 of his 48 professional fights and securing world titles with memorable victories over Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo. However, he also endured high-profile defeats against Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

His final professional fight came in 2012, when he was beaten by Vyacheslav Senchenko in Manchester. He later returned for an exhibition match against Marco Antonio Barrera in 2022.

In July, Hatton had announced plans for another comeback, with a scheduled middleweight fight against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai on December 2. The proposed contest was set to be professional, although questions lingered over whether it would be officially sanctioned.
