The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has emphasized that the Olubadan throne is not about glamour but about service to humanity.
Speaking at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Sunday, during a visit by Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the former Oyo State governor noted that many people hold a wrong perception about the traditional stool.
“Many people erroneously believe that the throne is for glamour. The time of glamour is gone. In contemporary period, it is about service. What do you have on the table for the people in society? People talk of Imperial Majesty, but where is the empire?” Ladoja said.
The Olubadan-designate urged Mogajis (family heads) to return to their ancestral compounds to mentor and support younger generations, stressing that leadership must be rooted in community guidance and service.
He added that he is personally leading by example by renovating his family compound in Isale Osi, Ibadan South West LGA, and plans to spend some days there regularly, even after ascending the throne.
“I see my appointment as the Olubadan as another opportunity to serve humanity,” he stated.
