Nigerian comedian Seyi Law is celebrating two decades in the entertainment industry, a milestone he says was built on years of sacrifice, resilience, and dedication.

In a recent interview with HipTV, the comic revealed that his career was shaped by tough decisions, including leaving his comfort zone and enduring struggles that prepared him for success.

“It’s been 20 years and there has been a lot of sacrifices to get to where I am today. But when success comes, you most times forget the sacrifices. Like they say, ‘A day of joy erases years of sorrow,’” he said.

Seyi Law recalled how he moved from his uncle’s home in Orile to live with his aunt in Ebute Meta, Lagos, just to be closer to opportunities for stage performances. He also narrated how he and fellow comedian Emeka Smith would travel to universities across Nigeria — including OAU, UI, OOU, UNILAG, and LASU — often sleeping in study theatres and improvising bathrooms, all in pursuit of platforms to perform.

He added that one of his early breaks came when he backed up singer 9ice during a performance at a Lagos State University law dinner.

Beyond his own career growth, Seyi Law said he is committed to giving back and mentoring young entertainers, a value he picked up from veteran comedian Ali Baba.

“I also decided to bring a lot of people to my comfort zone because I learnt that from Ali Baba. As soon as I got my own apartment, I had several comedians live with me. They’re all big boys now,” he revealed.

According to him, his shows abroad also helped Nigerian stars like Kizz Daniel, Adekunle Gold, and Woli Arole secure their first international visas.
