VP Shettima Heads to New York for 80th UN General Assembly

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for New York to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The information was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by Mr Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President).

According to CREEBHILLS, the session is scheduled to run from Monday, September 22 to Sunday, September 28.

Nkwocha explained that Shettima, standing in for President Bola Tinubu, will present Nigeria’s national statement at the global gathering and take part in the UN high-level general debates alongside other world leaders.

He also noted that the vice-president will unveil Nigeria’s updated Nationally Determined Contributions, NDCs, under the Paris Agreement during a UN climate-focused special event.
