Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has declared that he will hand over to a governor from Anambra Central Senatorial District at the end of his administration.
Speaking during an endorsement rally for his re-election campaign and to welcome Ifeanyi Ibezi, a former House of Representatives member, back to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abatete, Idemili North Local Government Area, Soludo emphasized that zoning the governorship among the three senatorial districts is now an established tradition in the state.
He explained that the arrangement began with Anambra North, later moved to Anambra South where he hails from, and will naturally shift to Anambra Central after his tenure.
While celebrating Ibezi’s return, the governor reaffirmed that APGA remains the political identity of Anambra State.
The former Central Bank of Nigeria governor also pointed out that his re-election campaign has transformed into a grassroots-driven movement, with communities independently hosting endorsement rallies.
“Anambra is APGA, and APGA is synonymous with Anambra. We are going round the state welcoming major people back into the fold. APGA has never been more united and stronger than it is today,” he said.
Confident of a statewide victory, Soludo urged voters in Idemili North—an area with a large voter population but historically low turnout—to show stronger participation in the November 8 election.
