Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tacha Akide has stunned fans by publicly celebrating the birthday of her longtime rival, Mercy Eke.
Mercy, who turned 35 on Monday, marked the occasion by posting elegant photos of herself in a white suit on Instagram, alongside a reflective caption about resilience, growth, and brighter days ahead.
Tacha took to the comment section, calling Mercy “gorgeous” and adding, “stay winning.”
The gesture caught many by surprise, given the pair’s history of rivalry dating back to the Pepper Dem season in 2019. Tacha was disqualified after a heated clash with Mercy, who eventually emerged the winner.
Over the years, their relationship seemed strained, with subtle shades traded online. In 2023, for instance, after Mercy flaunted her new Range Rover, Tacha was reported to have tweeted, “But is she me?” while also questioning the legitimacy of Mercy’s BBNaija victory.
However, the two reconciled publicly in 2022 during a sit-down with Toke Makinwa and later on an Instagram Live session with Khloe Abiri, clarifying that fan wars had amplified their differences.
Tacha’s latest message has drawn admiration from fans, many of whom praised her maturity and applauded the show of goodwill.
Mercy remains a trailblazer as the first female winner of Big Brother Naija.
