Afrobeats star Asake has shared his candid views on how humility and ego are perceived in the music industry.
Speaking on the subject, the singer argued that artists who present themselves as humble are often seen as weak, while those who display a certain level of ego tend to attract more admiration from fans.
“As an artist, if you’re humble, they take you for granted,” Asake said. “But if you have ego, they feel like you’re not accessible, then they like you more.”
He explained that audiences are less interested in watching an artist’s process and more concerned with the results. According to him, trying to show people how you achieve things is often a waste of time, as appreciation only comes when the final outcome is visible.
“People would rather see what you’re doing than showing them. They don’t really appreciate it. Do what you need to do and just go,” he added.
