Metro Boomin is in court facing a lawsuit from Vanessa LeMaistre, who accuses the super-producer of sexually assaulting her in 2016 after she blacked out at his studio.
LeMaistre filed the suit last year, alleging that the two had initially bonded over their shared love of music before the relationship soured months later. She claims she ingested alcohol and Xanax the night of the alleged assault, which she says resulted in pregnancy. She also points to Metro Boomin’s track “Rap Saved Me” with Offset, 21 Savage, and Quavo, claiming the lyrics reference the incident.
Metro Boomin, however, vehemently denies the allegations, calling them a fabricated story born during an ayahuasca trip. He maintains their encounter was consensual and insists the lawsuit is nothing more than a “classic celebrity shakedown.”
On September 23, a jury heard opening arguments in the case. But already, LeMaistre’s legal team is pushing for a mistrial. According to Billboard, her attorney Michael Willemin argues that Metro’s defense improperly discussed her sexual history without judicial approval, potentially tainting the jury.
“If plaintiff’s counsel was provided fair warning… the claim that plaintiff engaged in consensual sex with the defendant prior to the sexual assault would have been precluded,” Willemin said, adding that there’s “no possible way to undo” the damage.
As the trial continues, the court will now decide whether to move forward or declare a mistrial.
