2025 World Athletics Championships: Tobi Amusan Credits Divine Providence After Winning Silver

Tobi Amusan Wins 3rd Consecutive Diamond League 100m Hurdles At Pre Classic

Nigerian sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan has attributed her success at the 2025 World Athletics Championships to divine providence, DAILY POST reports.

The world record holder bounced back from her disappointing outing at the 2024 Paris Olympics by securing silver in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.28 seconds. Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji claimed gold, finishing in 12.24 seconds.

With the achievement, Amusan made history as the second Nigerian to win multiple medals at the World Athletics Championships, following the footsteps of Blessing Okagbare and Ese Brume.

Reflecting on her journey, the 28-year-old described it as a difficult path marked by setbacks and resilience.

“It’s been God, the journey has been extremely rough. I’ve taken more L’s than wins and I’m just thankful that I have a great support system: my coach, my family, my mentors, my loved ones, my fans,” she told Making of Champions.
