Nigeria’s sprint queen, Tobi Amusan, has booked her place in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the ongoing Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships after delivering a commanding performance in her semifinal heat.
The 27-year-old hurdler clocked 12.36 seconds (-0.2) to take first place, finishing ahead of the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser (12.45s) and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska (12.51s).
Amusan, the current world record holder with a blistering 12.12s set at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, looked in full control from the start, powering through the barriers with her trademark speed and precision.
Her performance has heightened expectations as she heads into the highly anticipated final, where she will aim to reclaim the world title she won in 2022 and reaffirm her dominance as one of the sport’s most consistent hurdlers.
The women’s 100m hurdles final is scheduled for later today, with global attention fixed on Amusan as she bids to make history once again for Nigeria.
