Former U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that the person of interest in the assassination of Charlie Kirk is now in custody.
Speaking Friday morning on Fox & Friends, Trump revealed he received news of the arrest just minutes before going on air, expressing a “high degree of certainty” that the possible shooter had been apprehended.
According to him, the suspect was turned in with the assistance of a minister, a U.S. Marshal, and the man’s father. Trump praised all those involved in the manhunt, describing it as a challenging operation that began “with absolutely nothing.”
Earlier, TMZ obtained surveillance footage showing the person of interest walking along a residential street in Orem, Utah, shortly before Kirk, 31, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. Around six minutes after the shooting, a figure dressed in black was seen running in the opposite direction through a backyard.
