South African global superstar Tyla once again proved why she’s a force in both music and fashion at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, held on Sunday, September 7.
The Grammy-winning singer turned heads on the red carpet in a tiny beige Chanel minidress, which was originally a reworked corset top from Chanel’s Spring/Summer 1993 collection. Styled as the smallest minidress imaginable, it instantly became one of the most talked-about looks of the evening.
To complete the daring ensemble, Tyla layered gold medallion necklaces, stacked bracelets, waist chains, and ankle jewellery from Pandora. She also paired the outfit with super-short black shorts to avoid a wardrobe mishap and sharp black pointed heels for a sleek finish.
Music Meets Fashion
Beyond fashion, Tyla had another major win at the ceremony as she proudly walked away with the “Best Afrobeats” award, cementing her status as one of the most influential African artists of her generation.
Her energetic and colourful music video for “Push 2 Start” also earned her a nomination for “Best Choreography,” proving that her artistry continues to expand globally.
With her fearless style and rising dominance in the music industry, Tyla continues to set the pace for Afrobeats and global pop culture.
