Evicted Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Thelma Lawson, has opened up about why her expected friendship with fellow contestant Isabella never worked out in the house.
Thelma, who left the show on Saturday night alongside Bright Morgan in a surprise double eviction, revealed during her post-show interview that the issue stemmed from her closeness with Kayinkunmi, a housemate she already knew before the competition.
According to her, Isabella misunderstood her bond with Kayinkunmi and saw her as a rival.
“It’s unfortunate that Isabella and I never really became friends. I genuinely looked forward to connecting with her because she is a mother to a 14 year old son. I wanted to learn life from her perspective. But things changed because Kayinkunmi who is my friend outside the house was also in the game,” Thelma explained.
Thelma noted that tensions escalated when she selected Kayinkunmi as her deputy during her tenure as Head of House.
“Her reaction that night showed me she had taken it too far. I felt it wasn’t the right moment for a conversation,” she said.
She added that she chose not to publicize the depth of her pre-existing friendship with Kayinkunmi to avoid unnecessary drama.
“Kayinkunmi is my friend and that was why I chose him as deputy. I didn’t want anyone using us for highlights that’s why I only explained to those who directly asked me. Unfortunately by the time Isabella realized there was nothing between us, the damage had already been done,” she said.
The reality star concluded that while she had truly hoped for a bond with Isabella, the misunderstanding created a rift that remained unresolved throughout their stay in the house.
