The lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has invited Senate President Godswill Akpabio to attend a project commissioning ceremony in her constituency.
Akpabio read the invitation letter — also extended to other senators — during Thursday’s plenary session.
According to the letter, the event is scheduled for Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, as part of activities marking Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s second year in the Senate.
“In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State,” the letter read.
The letter further indicated Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State, as the meeting point. Senators traveling by air were advised to land at Obajana Airstrip before proceeding to Ihima by road.
Upon reading the invitation, Senate President Akpabio congratulated the lawmaker in advance, saying, “Congratulations in advance.”
The invitation is seen as a positive step toward reconciliation following their earlier clash in February over seat reallocation in the Senate, which led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension on March 6.
Since her reinstatement on September 24, the senator has gradually re-engaged with Akpabio during plenary sessions, including her recent contributions to discussions on the Criminal Code Act (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Her latest letter marks the most direct gesture of rapprochement between both lawmakers since the dispute.
