U.S. President Donald Trump has disclosed that music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs requested a presidential pardon following his recent conviction.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, “A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy. He has asked me for a pardon.”
Combs was sentenced to four years in prison on Friday after being found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
According to a Deadline report from July, Trump had previously considered granting Combs a pardon. However, in an August interview with Newsmax, Trump appeared uncertain about the idea, saying, “He was essentially, I guess, sort of half innocent. Probably. I was very friendly with him, but when I ran for office, he was very hostile, and it’s hard. So, I don’t know — it’s more difficult.”
When asked about the possibility of granting a pardon to Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of Jeffrey Epsteinwho is serving time for sex trafficking, he was cautious.
“I’d have to take a look at it,” he told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins. “I wouldn’t consider it or not consider it. I don’t know anything about it. I will speak to the DOJ.”
