Egypt has officially booked its place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, becoming the third African nation to qualify for the tournament after a convincing 3-0 victory over Djibouti on Wednesday in Casablanca.
The Pharaohs, who have now qualified for the global showpiece for the fourth time in history, secured top spot in Group A with one game left to play. Their clinical performance ensured they joined Morocco and Tunisia as Africa’s confirmed representatives for the upcoming World Cup in North America.
Meanwhile, Ghana took a massive step closer to sealing qualification after demolishing the Central African Republic 5-0 at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in El Jadida, Morocco.
Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana powered the Black Stars to a dominant win, maintaining their three-point lead over Madagascar, who also won their fixture on the same night.
With a superior goal difference of +16 compared to Madagascar’s +8, Ghana now sits comfortably atop Group I, edging closer to confirming their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
