Garcelle Beauvais is opening up about her headline-making exit from Bravo’s hit show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
The actress shocked fans during the season 14 reunion when she literally walked off set, marking her dramatic departure from the reality franchise. Now promoting her new partnership with Lifetime—which includes producing and starring in Tempted by Love and Taken at a Truck Stop: A Black Girl Missing Movie—Beauvais is shedding light on why she decided to leave.
Speaking with Variety, Garcelle Beauvais revealed that while the show offered her great opportunities, it also took a toll on her well-being.
“As great of an opportunity as it was to be on the Housewives, it was also heavy on my spirit,” she explained. “Walking away has given me my power back. It’s given me a sense of freedom, and I’m in a good headspace. I want to create. I want to spend time with my family and friends. We live in a crazy world right now, and anywhere you can find joy and hold on to it for a bit is where we should all go. I am enjoying joy, peace, and my life at this point.”
Garcelle Beauvais also shared that there was a clear turning point during filming when she realized she no longer fit in with the cast.
“There was a moment where I felt like I no longer belonged here. I no longer fit in here. It was definitely a moment of like, ‘This is not for me.’ It just didn’t feel right.”
Beauvais’ departure signals a new chapter in her career as she shifts her focus from reality TV drama to scripted projects and creative ventures. Fans who admired her on RHOBH are eager to see what she does next under her Lifetime deal.
