“It’s older than my husband” – Regina Daniels Celebrates Nigeria at 65 with Humor and Patriotism

Nollywood actress and politician’s wife, Regina Daniels, marked Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day in a heartfelt yet humorous way.

In a video shared online, the actress blended nostalgia, laughter, and patriotism as she reflected on her childhood memories of Independence Day celebrations.

“Nigeria is Older Than My Husband”

Joking about her marriage to billionaire businessman and politician Ned Nwoko, Regina playfully remarked:

“Nigeria is 65. That’s a big number—it’s older than my husband.”

The lighthearted quip immediately caught attention, but her message carried a deeper tone of reflection on national pride.

Childhood Memories of Independence Day

Regina recalled the vibrant celebrations of her youth, when children across Nigeria dressed in green and white to participate in march-pasts and sing the national anthem.

“I remember those days during Independence. The streets were flooded with kids. Everyone was doing their march pass, singing the national anthem. Thinking about it now, it was ridiculously patriotic. I love it,” she said.

She expressed hope that the patriotic spirit of those moments continues to be passed on to younger generations.

Attempt at the Old National Anthem

In the video, Regina also attempted to recite Nigeria’s old national anthem, laughing at herself when she stumbled over the words. Despite the mix-up, she remained sincere about the importance of national traditions and unity.
