Nigerian Catholic priest, Reverend Father Kelvin Ugwu, has shared his thoughts on the ongoing marital drama between Regina Daniels and her billionaire husband, Ned Nwoko, describing their relationship as a contract rather than a marriage.
In a lengthy Facebook post, the outspoken cleric said that Ned is “obsessed with virginity,” while Regina is “obsessed with wealth,” adding that their relationship was built on mutual exchange rather than love or lifelong commitment.
Father Ugwu referenced past interviews where Ned Nwoko stated he could only marry a virgin, and a viral video where Regina Daniels admitted she would rather “cry in a Lamborghini.” According to him, both parties found what they wanted in each other — wealth and virginity — making their union more of a transactional partnership.
He wrote:
“Ned has wealth, which is what Gina wants. Gina has virginity, which is what Ned wants. The requirements on both sides were met. Their hotspots and Bluetooth were compatible for pairing. They paired. Transfers were made. Results were visible.”
The clergyman went on to liken their situation to an exchange deal, saying both got exactly what they bargained for — Ned, a young virgin wife, and Regina, a life of luxury filled with “dollars, Ferrari, and G-Wagon.”
However, he stressed that their mistake was labeling such an arrangement as marriage:
“Ned and Gina used the term ‘Marriage’ to define what they shared. But if we are to be critical, it is an abuse of the word. What they have resembles marriage, but resemblance does not make it so.”
Father Ugwu further compared their relationship to “contract marriages” often seen in Western countries, where individuals exchange money or citizenship under the guise of marriage, but with no real emotional or spiritual bond.
He concluded that a true marriage goes beyond material gain or physical desires, emphasizing that it is built on total self-giving and lifelong commitment.
“Marriage goes beyond seeking to have virgins or Lamborghinis. It is the willingness to give yourself unreservedly and for life to another person,” he wrote.
Father Kelvin’s post has since gone viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some praised his boldness and honesty, others felt he was too harsh on the celebrity couple.
