Kevin Hunter, the ex-husband of media personality Wendy Williams, has suffered a legal setback in his ongoing attempt to challenge her court-appointed guardianship.
According to reports, a New York judge has officially dismissed the lawsuit Hunter filed on Williams’ behalf, ruling that he cannot legally act as her “friend” in court. However, the judge noted that Hunter is free to refile a new case solely on his own behalf.
Hunter’s lawsuit had sought $250 million in damages, alleging that Wendy was being exploited under the supervision of her guardian, Sabrina Morrisey.
Wendy Distances Herself from the Case
In a surprise call to TMZ Live, Wendy Williams made it clear that she had no involvement in the legal filing. The former talk show host also admitted she’s uncertain about her current financial situation, saying she doesn’t even know how much money she has access to.
The revelation has fueled further public concern about Wendy’s well-being since she was placed under guardianship due to reported health and financial challenges.
A Complicated Past
Wendy and Kevin were married for 21 years before finalizing their divorce in 2020, following a widely publicized split that included allegations of infidelity.
Since then, both have pursued separate paths — Wendy stepping away from television amid health struggles, and Hunter seeking to defend what he describes as her “true interests.”
For now, the judge’s decision means Hunter’s case is effectively back to square one, while Wendy continues her recovery journey under her guardian’s care.
