Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been diagnosed with sciatica, ruling him out of the start of the upcoming NBA season.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the 40-year-old is expected to be sidelined for at least three to four weeks due to the condition, which affects the nerves on his right side.
The setback comes as James prepares for what would be his 23rd NBA season, adding to a series of recent injury struggles.
Last season, the four-time NBA champion and MVP sprained the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee and missed part of the playoffs. He also suffered nerve irritation in his glute, which kept him out of training camp.
The Lakers are yet to release an official statement on when LeBron James is expected to return to full fitness.
