LeBron James sets new NBA record for most regular-season games played

LeBron James

LeBron James has made history by becoming the player with the most regular-season appearances in NBA history, featuring in his 1,612th game during the Los Angeles Lakers narrow 105-104 victory over the Orlando Magic.

The milestone sees the 41-year-old surpass the previous record of 1,611 games held by Robert Parish since his retirement in 1997. When playoff appearances are included, LeBron James had already been the all-time leader, with his total now reaching an impressive 1,904 games.

It was a memorable night for the Lakers, who secured the win with a dramatic late three-pointer from Luka Kennard. James contributed 12 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the record-breaking game.

Now in his 23rd NBA season, James continues to build on an already unmatched legacy, holding several records including total points scored, field goals made and attempted, as well as the longest streak of regular-season games with at least 10 points.

Reflecting on the milestone, LeBron James said his preparation for the game was no different from any other.

“It was a regular prep day,” James said. “I know once I stepped on the floor that I was breaking the record, and that’s a pretty cool thing.

“I said the other night, the best thing you can do for your teammates is to be available, and I’ve tried to be available throughout my career, two decades plus, for my guys.”

Including playoff games, James’ total appearances now place him comfortably ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who sits second with 1,797 games, while Parish ranks third overall.
