Singer and rapper Lizzo is facing fresh legal trouble after being accused of copying another artist’s song for one of her viral tracks.
According to court filings obtained by TMZ, the GRC Trust has filed a lawsuit against the singer and her label, Atlantic Records, alleging that the star sampled and replicated parts of their composition “Win or Lose (We Tried)” without permission.
The lawsuit claims that Lizzo’s 2025 song “I’m Goin’ In Till October”, also known as “Good Jeans”, which became a major hit on TikTok and Instagram, contains instrumental and vocal elements directly lifted from the copyrighted track.
Responding to the allegations, a spokesperson for Lizzo told TMZ,
“We are surprised that The GRC Trust filed this lawsuit. To be clear, the song has never been commercially released or monetized, and no decision has been made at this time regarding any future commercial release of the song.”
However, the GRC Trust maintains that Lizzo and her team knowingly used the composition for financial benefit without obtaining the required license. The group further claims that negotiations over a potential sampling agreement had previously taken place but collapsed before any deal was finalized.
As part of the filing, the Trust is seeking monetary damages and a court injunction to prevent any continued use or exploitation of their music.
This marks another chapter in her history of music ownership disputes. Her 2019 chart-topping hit “Truth Hurts” was previously the subject of controversy after producers sought co-writing credits, while singer Mina Lioness accused Lizzo of using her viral 2017 lyric “100% that b*tch” without credit. Lizzo later acknowledged Mina Lioness as a co-writer after public backlash.
