FIFA has officially unveiled the match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, introducing Trionda, a design that blends cutting-edge technology with cultural elements from the three host nations — the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The ball, designed by long-term partner Adidas, continues the tradition of the German manufacturer supplying every World Cup ball since 1970.
Speaking at the launch event in New York on Thursday, FIFA president Gianni Infantino said:
“I am delighted and proud to present the Trionda.”
Design Inspired by Three Nations
The 2026 World Cup will make history as the first edition hosted by three countries, with an expanded 48-team format. Trionda’s design reflects that unity, featuring red, blue, and green colors along with symbolic imagery:
-
Maple leaves representing Canada
-
The eagle symbolizing Mexico
-
Stars for the United States
-
A triangle motif highlighting the partnership of the three nations
Advanced Technology for Performance
Beyond aesthetics, the Trionda incorporates advanced features to enhance play:
-
Deep seams for improved in-flight stability
-
Embossed icons to boost grip in wet or humid conditions
-
An integrated motion sensor chip that tracks the ball’s movement and relays data directly to the VAR system
Countdown to 2026 World Cup
The unveiling is part of FIFA’s countdown to the tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Ticket sales have already drawn global interest, with more than 4.5 million fans from 216 countries registering for the presale draw.
The official World Cup draw is scheduled for December 5 in Washington, D.C.
