Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah is reportedly preparing to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) next week.

The development was confirmed on Friday in Abuja by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the Deputy National Chairman (South-East), Emma Eneukwu, during the swearing-in of the newly inaugurated Enugu State APC caretaker committee at the party’s national headquarters.

According to the APC leadership, Governor Mbah’s defection will be formally announced at an event scheduled to take place in Enugu State next week.

The new caretaker committee is led by former state chairman Ben Nwoye, who also confirmed the move, stating that Mbah will join the APC alongside his appointees.

“The governor is coming to join the ruling party with his team. This marks a new political direction for Enugu State,” Nwoye said.

The news of Mbah’s impending defection has stirred political conversations in the South-East, with reports suggesting that Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas may also be considering a similar move to the APC.
